About the Nursery
Most of what you'll find on a national chain's nursery shelf was trucked in from Texas or California, varieties bred for entirely different climates, dropped onto a Lee County loading dock, and priced to move. They look great in the parking lot. They struggle by the second summer.
Danny Yates Landscape Nursery has been a working operation since 1986. Our palms come from regional groves that have proven themselves in our heat and humidity. Our citrus is selected for our sandy, alkaline soil. Our sod is local-grown St. Augustine and Bahia, harvested same-week and sold by the piece or the pallet. Nothing on the lot is here just because it sells.
The retail nursery sits on our 425 SW Pine Island Road property in Cape Coral. Sod is the headline product, St. Augustine and Bahia, sold by the piece, the half-pallet, or the full 400 sq ft pallet. Walking the yard you'll also see field-grown signature palms staged for installation (Bismarck, Royal, Pygmy Date, Lady, Bottle, Areca), tree-form Hibiscus and Bougainvillea standards in full bloom, tropical color in 1 and 3 gallon (Ixora, Jatropha, Plumbago, Dipladenia, Pentas), and shade-tree specimens (Gumbo Limbo, Black Olive Shady Lady, Magnolia, Jacaranda, Pitch Apple).
We also stock the less-glamorous essentials, bagged Black Gold planting mix, topsoil and red mulch, decorative rock, slow-release Florida-blend fertilizers (8-2-10, 20-02-08) tuned for our sandy, alkaline soils, and the irrigation parts a homeowner actually needs. Anything we run short on is on a same-week reorder cycle.
Builders, landscape contractors, HOA property managers, and pool companies have been buying from us for nearly four decades. Wholesale accounts get tiered pallet pricing on sod, bulk discounts on palms and trees, and direct delivery scheduled around your install timeline. Set up an account by calling the office.
South Florida water restrictions and pollinator habitat make Florida-friendly plantings smart choices for new landscapes. We carry Milkweed, Walking Iris, Muhly Grass, Coco Plum, Crown of Thorns, Mexican Heather, and the rest of the low-water staples, plus pollinator color (Pentas, Cuphea, Salvia) that fits in mixed beds and actually shows up at the butterfly count.
The retail nursery is open Monday through Saturday, 8 to 5 weekdays, 8 to 3 Saturday, closed Sunday. Bring a tape measure, bring photos of your space if you have them, and ask for one of our nursery folks. They'll walk you through what's currently in stock and what's coming in next week. No appointment needed. Plants do better when you see them in person.
